Nebraska?

If you have been following our family and this blog, you know that the past 2 years have been quite a journey for our little family. When Matt was laid off in Maryland, we searched for understanding of what to do next. It became clear that Chiropractic work, just wasn't going to cut it for us so we started looking into schools. Matt decided that it would be best to go back to school and become a nurse practitioner. He still loves chiropractic work and hopes to keep up his skills, but job security in a related field seemed a bit more appealing to us. Matt was accepted to Creighton University and we have moved to Omaha.
I must admit that when we arrived here, I was disappointed. Maryland had been weeks into spring, the trees were blooming, flowers were bright and beautiful, and the weather was so mild. Omaha, on the other hand, was apparently still in winter. Nothing was growing when we got here, and I had very little hope that anything here could be beautiful.
About a week later, however, the weather warmed up and the green started to appear. So, it is with a guilty conscience that I must admit that it can be beautiful here. Many people landscape their yards beautifully, and all the rain and humidity keeps lawns and trees green.
Another thing that I have come to be impressed about, is the wide variety of fun family activities available to us here. One place is the Zoo. It is awesome, and Peter loves the animals. He especially likes the lions, baby lions, and sharks (thanks to The Lion King and Finding Nemo). :-)

Hail From Those Transient People You Once Knew

No. We have not been asleep for the last 7 months, although I wish the reason this blog has not been updated was that simple. Matt and I started this blog when we moved from Idaho to Chicago. We wanted to keep our family and friends back home involved in our lives and aware of important life events. After Matt graduated Chiropractic School, we moved to Olympia, Washington where he began working a new job. At that point this blog also became a window to the Chicago friends. After a bout 6 months we new that the job was not going to work out and found new employment in our home town in Idaho. Once again leaving friends in Washington state to be back with family. We lived with Matt's parents for 6 months and then in our own apartment for another 5. Somewhere in those later five months Matt was laid off. Unsure of the future but aware of all the possibilities ahead of us, we turned to prayer and faith. It was easy for me to be discouraged about the loss of 2 jobs in less than 1 year and the prospect of moving again, especially now that we have a baby to consider in the plans. But as it turns out, no matter where you are and no matter what job you are working, if you are doing good, God will provide happiness. So Matt did some job searching for about a month and found new employment. Currently he is working at a Chiropractic office in Washington DC. His office is across the street from the National Zoo. I will fill in the details of the last year and the experiences leading up to current time in another post (and maybe we should change the name of this blog to "hail from those transient people you once knew").
I do, however, want to express my sincere gratitude for each person who has gotten to know us, love us, care for us, serve us, offered hugs, and tears, and referrals. All you who have kept us in your homes, we will always keep you in our hearts. We have been blessed more than I will ever be able to express gratitude for so I thank you and I thank God.

Move (the sequel)

We moved! We are back in Idaho. Matt got a job in Chubbuck near where we grew up at Streamline Chiropractic so we moved back and are living with family for now. We are happy that we made this decision to come back to Idaho. Washington was a great place to live, and we will miss the friends we made there, but it feels good to be back near family again.
On another note Peter is starting to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth so we are thinking we better get ready for him to start crawling.

Over the River and Through the Woods Across the Country we Go

On our way back to the west we stayed at a hotel in Coralville Iowa. We had stayed at this particular Best Western Canterbury Inn the first time we drove across the country to move to Chicago. We thought it only fitting to stay there again on our move back to the west. We particularly enjoyed the decor and the fantastic complimentary hot breakfast.

Matt was king for a moment while he sat on this throne in the lobby.

The next stop on our journey was in Colorado Springs, CO. We visited Matt's sister Tina's family at their beautiful home and this picture was taken at the top of a hike we took on a beautiful and windy day.
We arrived in Idaho the next day and spent a week with family there then our journey moved us on to Olympia Washington. Those pictures to come!
