Matt and I went to the 2008 Magnificent Mile Lights Festival on Saturday November 22 with some friends. We arrived in CHICAGO early to see Jason Mraz in concert (woot!!). We did a little shopping and picked up some free slices of cheesecake (yum). We waited for 2 hours at curbside for the parade to start (it was worth it) The Cheetah Girls are on the float wearing black. We saw Mickey, Minnie mouse, goofy, Pluto, Bolt the super dog, Donald, Daisy, and SANTA!! Then with frozen toes we briskly walked back to the train to warm up and go home.

Halloween

Happy Halloween! We placed our jack-o-lantern atop our 3rd story balcony overlooking the entrance to our building.

Behind the Scenes - carving our pumpkin

After my first weekend of learning Kinesio taping I tried it on myself. This tape job looked cool but wasn't really needed. Other tape jobs have been more successful.

Happy Independence Day!
Matt and I have these great new friends here in Chicagoland. Their names are Dave and Carin. We do a lot with them, including celebrating holidays! On July 4th we went to a place called Lake Ellyn in the village of Glen Ellyn (a suburb right next to us) to watch them light fireworks over the very small lake in the park. Sadly there were trees blocking some of our view, and the night was pretty cool so we got a little chilly, but over all we were very happy to be there and had an awesome time hanging out together.

Here are some pictures of our little balcony garden! we planted it a couple of months ago and are pretty happy with it. these pictures are a few weeks old, the zucchini is now flowering and one of our tomato plants actually has little tomatoes on it that are turning red :-) I will post pictures of those in the future.

Matt had a pretty awesome birthday on the 21st of June! He is now 25 years old :-)
He got loads of money and gifts and a pretty awesome (lop-sided) German's Chocolate Cake. (Which we have now established is not from Germany)

new bumper

We hydroplaned into somebody's hitch, which left a gaping hole and a bend in the bumper. I painted the bumper in Dave Young's garage during my spring break, but we just barely got around to putting it on. We did a lot if jury-rigging and it took a while, but it looks decent.

pet birds

There were a few days in a row where we were awoken in the night by a robin right outside our window. Then we discovered it had a nest on our balcony. I was about to push it off but I found eggs inside, and didn't feel right destroying the eggs. We documented the progress of this family.

Risk

Kim beat me at risk. It was her first time playing, and she even had a cold that made her tired.

Wrigley Field

We went to the second game of the season, Brewers vs. Cubs. We went with a friend of mine from school, Ricky, who is from Milwaukee, and thus a Brewers fan. I found myself siding for the Brewers, even though I was previously neutral. The Brewers won the game 8-2, and the series 2-1. Hopefully I'll get to go to The Jake and Fenway Park someday.
